Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies
College Station, Texas

HVJ provided geotechnical engineering services for construction of a 112,000-square foot, 3 building facility complex, located in Texas A&M University’s Research Park in College Station.  The facility was designed by Perkins+Will and built by Vaughn Construction as a training facility for veterinarians, physicians, scientists, technicians and engineers.

The Texas Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS) is comprised of one main building.  The southern half of the building is the GLP/Imaging building which has two stories and a third floor mechanical penthouse.  The first floor includes the main entry lobby, auditorium, and prefunction space. Also on the first floor are the surgical suites and support spaces, which include operating rooms and cath labs. The second floor includes a balcony over the lobby area and houses the TIPS Administration offices, the OTC offices, incubator lab space and a roof courtyard.  The third floor is the mechanical penthouse.  The second half of the building is the one-story, 29,000 sq. ft. Animal Housing facility building which includes 18 animal holding rooms that will accommodate approximately 200-250 animals, the necropsy facility, cold storage, feed storage, the main mechanical and electrical rooms, and the facility loading dock.

The attention to detail and the one on one with one of the companies owners (Michael Hasen) during the entire project was appreciated.”
