Project Announcement: McKinney Airport Runway Extension Project

August 21, 2024

HVJ is excited to announce our role as part of the Garver USA team in providing geotechnical and material testing services for the McKinney Airport Runway Extension Project.

This project represents a significant leap forward in the operational capabilities of the McKinney National Airport (TKI) in McKinney, Texas. The airport's Runway 18-36, one of three runways,  is currently about 1.3 miles long. Through this project, it will be extended at the north and south end of the existing runway. This will have numerous benefits, including accommodations for larger corporate jets and improved efficiency for air carrier operations.

This project is an extension of work that we recently completed for the airport. Construction of a 500-foot-long runway and taxiway connectors was completed in 2023. The HVJ team provided material testing services, performing a series of tests to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards. This included concrete testing, cement-treated base course testing, aggregate testing, and select fill soil testing.

We look forward to bringing our expertise and experience to this latest project.
