Congratulations to HVJ's Sharmi Vedantam for her service as the ACEC Houston Geotechnical Committee Chair.
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is committed to advancing consulting engineering, educating public officials on the importance of infrastructure investment, and promoting sound business practices within the industry. ACEC Houston has over 235 civil, structural, geotechnical, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) engineering companies as members in the Houston metropolitan region.
Sharmi has participated in the ACEC for the past ten years and served as Geotechnical Committee Vice-Chair for the past two years.
She explains, “In my role at ACEC Houston, I was involved with public works agencies in negotiating the fee schedules and updating geotechnical design guidelines, standards, and specifications. I was involved in meetings with public agencies and regularly got updates from them.”
At HVJ, Sharmi is a Houston office branch manager responsible for the overall operations of the Geotechnical, Environmental, and Construction Materials Testing services. She manages financial performance, client satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and other company goals. She also prepares the annual business plan, strategic goals, annual budget, people planning, efficiency, and market awareness.
