NTE Independent Engineering - Owner Verification Testing
Richland Hills/Fort Worth, Texas

HVJ is providing Owner Verification Testing for the North Tarrant Express (NTE).  The project consists of a series of major highway improvements to the critical IH-820 and SH-121/183 (Airport Freeway) corridor between IH-35 West and Industrial Boulevard in North Tarrant County.

The project will improve the efficiency of the highway system by offering drivers a reliable choice during heavy congestion between the general purpose lanes and new toll managed lanes. The project will reconstruct interchanges and upgrade existing facilities to optimize operations. Construction began in late 2010 and is on fast track for completion by 2015.  The NTE is being designed, built, financed, operated and maintained by NTE Mobility Partners, which is working in close collaboration with TxDOT and local communities.

IH-35 Waco
Waco, Texas

HVJ performed a geotechnical study for IH 35 from South Loop 340 to North Loop 340 in McLennan County in Waco, for an approximate distance of 7.7 miles.  The project involved the widening of IH 35 by adding lanes on both sides of the highway.  The project also involved the construction of bridges and retaining walls.

Design and construction recommendations were provided for foundations for the proposed bridge structures.  Retaining wall recommendations for mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls and soil nail walls were provided as well as storm sewer recommendations.

"HVJ did a quality job in implementing the Pavement Management System for the City of Houston.  They established the foundation and set the ground work that we have been able to build upon over the years.  We were pleased with their management involvement and follow through in seeing that the city was informed and kept abreast of any issues.  PWE was very satisfied with their  overall job performance."
