Persevering Through Early-Stage Challenges

August 2, 2023

Some projects begin with so many complexities and constraints that it seems nearly impossible to achieve the goal - or even get started. Our team knew that Austin Capital Metro’s improvement project at the Crestview commuter station would significantly improve safety and save countless hours of commuter time. Our latest case study shares how the HVJ team persevered through early-stage challenges to get the job done.

Department Manager Leo Ruiz explains, “This project challenged me to take a step back and reflect on the core values I’ve learned at HVJ that have helped me overcome the most challenging projects. The first step was to come up with a strategy, then follow through with it day by day. I can’t stress how vital strong communication was to achieving the results of this project. In the end, what means the most is knowing that I have made a difference by using my knowledge to improve infrastructure that will positively impact many people. That’s why I became an engineer and what brings me the most satisfaction working in this industry.”
