Geotechnical
Engineering
Soil, rock, and groundwater conditions at every site are different. We assess the specific site conditions and design earth structures (slopes, channels, and dikes), foundations (retaining walls, bridges, buildings, tanks), and subsurface structures (clarifiers, lift stations, buried utilities, tunnels) to economically achieve the specific project objectives.

Engineering
& Testing
Construction material performance is key to the function and durability of any project. We engineer and test materials such as soil, concrete, and asphalt so you get what you pay for and the project performs as expected.

Civil/Pavement
Engineering
A successful project starts with clear understanding of the project’s specific needs. We prepared street rehabilitation PS&E, traffic control designs, pavement designs, and asset management systems based on careful understanding of design requirements.

Environmental Geology
& Engineering
Impact from hazardous waste, wetlands, faulting, and/or NEPA processes are serious concerns for project development. We identify such concerns early in project development, and provide strategies to mitigate impacts and provide the proper regulatory approval so the project can proceed on time and achieve the project goals.

HVJ congratulates Sanjeev Sanjeevan on being appointed as the ACEC Houston Geotechnical Committee Chairman.
The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is dedicated to advancing consulting engineering, educating public officials on the importance of infrastructure investment, and promoting sound business practices within the industry. ACEC Houston represents 250+ companies in the region and advocates for infrastructure investment.
Sanjeev brings over 15 years of deep expertise in experience in geotechnical engineering, materials testing, business development, and leadership. Over his career, he has served all major public agencies in Greater Houston, including TxDOT, Cities, Counties, Ports, Airports, transit, Toll Roads, and Water Authorities.
In his words, Sanjeev on his new role:
Serving as Chairman of the ACEC Geotechnical Committee is both an honor and a meaningful professional responsibility for me. It gives me an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the geotechnical engineering profession while working alongside respected industry leaders.
What excites me most is bringing firms, agencies, and technical professionals together to discuss the challenges affecting our industry, share best practices, and identify practical solutions. Geotechnical engineering is critical to the safety, performance, and long-term success of infrastructure projects, but its value is not always fully understood. I see this role as an opportunity to strengthen that understanding and advocate for the importance of early and meaningful geotechnical involvement.
Personally, this position also represents an opportunity for growth. I look forward to listening to diverse perspectives, building stronger industry partnerships, and fostering a collaborative environment where committee members can contribute and develop as leaders.
Ultimately, I want my time as Chairman to be measured by the value we provide to ACEC members, the conversations we advance, and the positive impact we make on the geotechnical engineering community.
