US 183 North Mobility Project

February 23, 2022

HVJ Associates® will bring years of design build experience to the US 183 North Mobility Project, which will add 9 miles of express lanes between SH 45 North and MoPac. This stretch is currently the 69th most congested roadway in the State of Texas, but when completed, drivers can bypass traffic congestion with more choices without tolls.  The project includes the construction of two tolled express lanes in each direction plus and the addition of a general-purpose lane to bring the number of non-tolled lanes to four in each direction.

Current traffic congestion creates significant delays for emergency response vehicles carrying patients to and from Seton Northwest Hospital, Concentra Urgent Care and numerous other health care facilities located along the corridor. As population and economic growth continue along and north of this corridor, it is anticipated that congestion will only worsen with forecasted peak rush hour traffic speeds reduced to 10 mph by 2035.

This project will incorporate thoughtful operational improvements including sidewalks, business driveways, and cross-street connections for both pedestrians and bicycles, where Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliant facilities do not currently exist.

HVJ is grateful for this opportunity to work with LJA Engineering to provide construction materials testing and inspection services as part of the CEI team for this $612 Million Design Build project. Construction is set to begin early 2022 with targeted completion early 2026.
