Opening of Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project

February 3, 2022

HVJ Associates® congratulates Coastal Water Authority, and local leaders including Texas Water Development Board and Houston Public Works on completion of the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project (LBITP). This project represents more than 50 years of efforts by local leaders. HVJ is grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to this $381 Million 'generational feat', which is considered to be the region’s most important water supply project.

HVJ provided on-site construction materials testing and geotechnical consulting services to keep two construction projects on schedule, including the Capers Ridge Pump Station ($50 Million) and the Dual 96-Inch Pipelines that are critical for meeting future water needs for the City of Houston.

The LBITP allows water to be directed through a 26-mile series of 8-foot pipes and canals that siphon surface water from the Trinity River to Lake Houston, with special features strategically designed to slow the water flow and prevent erosion

It is exciting to know that we were a participant in bringing surface water to a 2.5 million and growing population, which has made a huge impact in the Houston Region
