Geotechnical
Engineering
Soil, rock, and groundwater conditions at every site are different. We assess the specific site conditions and design earth structures (slopes, channels, and dikes), foundations (retaining walls, bridges, buildings, tanks), and subsurface structures (clarifiers, lift stations, buried utilities, tunnels) to economically achieve the specific project objectives.

Engineering
& Testing
Construction material performance is key to the function and durability of any project. We engineer and test materials such as soil, concrete, and asphalt so you get what you pay for and the project performs as expected.

Civil/Pavement
Engineering
A successful project starts with clear understanding of the project’s specific needs. We prepared street rehabilitation PS&E, traffic control designs, pavement designs, and asset management systems based on careful understanding of design requirements.

Environmental Geology
& Engineering
Impact from hazardous waste, wetlands, faulting, and/or NEPA processes are serious concerns for project development. We identify such concerns early in project development, and provide strategies to mitigate impacts and provide the proper regulatory approval so the project can proceed on time and achieve the project goals.

We are pleased to introduce new HVJ Associates® team member Lynn Ducas. As a Business Development Manager for HVJ North Texas, Lynn brings fresh energy and perspective. Lynn holds a BA in Journalism/Mass Communication from Samford University and has many years of experience in geotechnical marketing and business development.
As a native of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Huntsville, Alabama, Lynn grew up surrounded by countless aerospace engineers and rocket scientists, thanks to the presence of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. Throughout her 11 years in the industry, she has developed an immense appreciation for the importance of civil engineering in everyday life.
As Lynn explains, one of her favorite professional experiences was working in a national geotechnical engineering firm's laboratory running soil tests. "Seeing first-hand the inner workings of such a complex operation, from drilling to testing to data reporting and finally providing geotechnical recommendations to the client, was immensely impressive and fascinating and is why I have stayed in the geotechnical space for most of my career.
In her role, she will draw on her myriad of professional experiences to deepen new and existing client relationships for HVJ North Texas. In alignment with our core values at HVJ, she believes that people are the core of any successful project and is dedicated to developing strong relationships and providing high levels of service. Lynn remains active in industry leadership, including her past role as president of the Fort Worth Chapter of SMPS. She is passionate about mentoring women in the AEC industry in advancing their careers. Lynn's most recent role is serving on a committee with the DFW Chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE).
In her free time, Lynn enjoys spending time with her husband and family (two teenage sons, grown daughter, son-in-law, and their two dogs). Her family’s favorite pastime is spending the day boating on the lake. A fun fact about Lynn is that she has always been fascinated with cars and can tell you the make, model, and year of almost every car on the road! Since she was young, her family has played a road trip driving game to guess the car, and she won every time!
