Specialty Drilling and Laboratory Testing Near Lady Bird Lake

July 17, 2024

The City of Austin cherishes Lady Bird Lake, as it supports local wildlife, is an integral part of the city’s water conservation, and is a central hub for outdoor recreation. Maintaining the lake has been integral to the city’s planning and development. That’s why special planning was necessary when the city needed to provide a duct bank system to power its downtown grid, which would require work along the shoreline of Lady Bird Lake. The geotechnical firm needed in-depth knowledge of the local geological conditions and technical expertise in specialty drilling and laboratory testing.

Our latest case study shares how HVJ stepped up to meet the challenge. As a Project Manager and Vice President of Operations, Golam Kibria explains, “It was very inspiring to see how a difficult field exploration can be done with minimal impact by using a collaborative approach.  I am personally grateful to the Jacobs team, my colleagues on the project, and a subcontractor driller for working together for an excellent outcome.”
